A Digital Perspective: Sandra Davey

Sandra Davey is straight to the point - no bullshit, just action. Sandra is the ex-National President of AIMIA, and currently still holds a position on the board.  Sandra has been a great source of inspiration and knowledge for me since joining the industry, so I'm very happy to present her views on the industry moving forward. Look forward to your feedback. What does 2009 hold? More twittering, twining, ninging, and fringing! Continued love affair with social networking and development of new tools enabling community driven, subject based, niche social networking People start a love affair with Chumby but it’ll take a while ...

A Digital Perspective: Ravi Prasad, Head of Strategy, Topia

A comprehensive and insightful view into the future by Ravi Prasad, Head of Strategy at Topia.  One of my favourite minds in the industry. Definitely somebody to follow. Ravi has put together some great thoughts here, and you'll notice the reoccurring theme of change.  This is at a fundamental, strategy, and the user level.  We have many lessons to learn, and many companies are still going to learn the hard way. Best digital memory of 2008? I have two: 1. Judging at the AIMIA Awards – I saw some really thoughtful work, even in traditionally dull categories. There are some really well considered individuals ...

AIMIA DSI Launch: November 5, 2008

Digital is mainstream. -John Butterworth, CEO, AIMIA It was widely accepted that the digital industry - that while it had a significant amount of consumer data - the industry suffered from lack of industry data beyond online advertising spend. The AIMIA Digital Services Index (DSI) was a document drawn together by AIMIA, Hyro and IBM Australia which was designed to measure the level of investment in the digital services industry. 40% of customers engaged through digital services 25% of customer expenditure tied to digital services $17.9 billion on digital services in 2008 It was really interesting to note that 77% of respondents to the DSI had more ...

Digital Services Index: Measuring the Australian Digital Media Industry

On Wednesday, November 5, AIMIA, IBM and Hyro will be launching their joint initiative: the AIMIA Digital Services Index (DSI). The report will be the first comprehensive measurement of the overall expenditure in Australia's digital service industry. Why is this important? Well, according the report, 40% of ALL customer engagement in 2009 will be driven through digital services. This will give a very accurate perspective of the industry and perhaps most importantly -- what we can expect in terms of future growth. I've been lucky enough to preview the report with some interesting quotes. “There are important strategic insights in ...

Making LinkedIn Groups Functional

Finally, it appears something is being done about LinkedIn and its appalling group system.  Previously, you could create groups.  And that's about it. To get people in is completely manual, and they need to be approved manually. Anyone who has dealt with them will understand. As the manager of two groups - AIMIA and Business Network Australia - I was happy to receive the following note from them on Wednesday, explaining to me that the group functionality will be increased today. I think this is a great move for LinkedIn, much like their move with their iPhone app - making their service more accessible ...
