Technorati: State of the Blogosphere — Day 1: Who Are the Bloggers?

Part 1 of Technorati’s annual State of the Blogosphere report has come out today: Who are the bloggers?

But as the Blogosphere grows in size and influence, the lines between what is a blog and what is a mainstream media site become less clear. Larger blogs are taking on more characteristics of mainstream sites and mainstream sites are incorporating styles and formats from the Blogosphere. In fact, 95% of the top 100 US newspapers have reporter blogs.

    It is interesting that Technorati is still claiming to understand the blogosphere when they are struggling to continue to map it.

    I know what you mean — I think Technorati’s existence is only present because people constantly use it as a tool to measure in ‘top blog’ rankings.
